Our Mission

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve people’s lives and health through engagement, science, and capacity building.

To do that, our transdisciplinary team aims to understand how the confluence of several diseases and infections (HIV, pneumonia, tuberculosis and sexually-transmitted and blood-borne infections – called syndemics) affects the health of women, men and non-binary gendered people. We blend ways of knowing, disciplines and an extensive network of partners to understand how these syndemic diseases and infections intersect with daily living, because a person’s life is influenced by individual experiences as well as external and structural factors.

All Hands In
Group of Activists

Our Vision

To improve the health and wellbeing of people diagnosed with pneumonia, HIV and sexually transmitted infections through the development of diagnostic tests, predictive and prognostic algorithms for treatment management, and advocating for evidence-based policy and

decision-making.
